Are You Setting Marketing Video Goals for Your Business?

44% of participants in a recent study claimed that the lack of an effective strategy was the primary reason their video marketing efforts were unsuccessful. The problem is, you can’t accurately measure success without first defining what your marketing video goals are.

In the following article, we’ll cover 3 ways you can measure the success of your video marketing efforts so you can rest easy knowing you’re getting a good return on your investment.

1. The Number of Views

The easiest metric you can track when it comes to video marketing is the number of views your video gets. It’s an important metric to track, but unfortunately, the number of views doesn’t directly relate to an increase in revenue. It’s common to have a video with lots of views, but little to no conversions — meaning little to no sales. You should still track the number of views your video gets, but don’t rely on this single metric alone.

2. The Click-Through Rate

The click-through rate is the number of users who clicked on a link you provided in your video or in the videos’ description. This is a good metric to track when you want to know how effective the videos’ marketing message is. The more people who click the link to view the landing page from the video, the higher your click-through rate will be.

3. The Number of Sales

When it comes to tracking your return on investment, recording the number of sales generated by your video is the most important metric to watch. You can track purchases made by viewers who landed on your sales page after watching your video on another site — such as YouTube. How many of those users coming in from your video actually made a purchase? The more sales you generate, the higher your conversion rate is — which is the goal of video marketing.
